Things have been moving fast in SB world. First, some announcements and upgrades coming to TheStyleBlogger.com:
1. The MAB by Dan Trepanier Fall/Winter collection is taking longer than expected. My apologies to all those who have been inquiring, I can assure you we are doing our best and gearing up for something truly special. For now, a teaser.
2. Along with my MAB suiting collaboration (which will eventually include accessories, additional sizing options, waistcoat separates, and several other upgrades to the shopping experience), we will be expanding the TSB Shop to include a department dedicated to the SB Team’s vintage selects from around NYC, and beyond.
3. TheStyleBlogger NYC shopping tours. Our team takes you on a downtown walking tour through our favorite hidden gems in NYC along with exclusive discounts, personal styling advice, wardrobe building guidelines and overall a unique NYC experience. More coming soon.
4. TheStyleBlogger.com email newsletter. Sign up for our seasonal newsletter for exclusive content, shopping guides, reader discounts and more. All quality original content, no spam. Coming soon.
5. In the New Year we will be launching The Style Blogger for Her – the women’s counterpart to TheStyleBlogger.com. It will be hosted by the beautiful and super stylish Karyn Bailey (with contributions from Jenilee Thorton, and others). For now, just a small teaser for the girls until we launch the sister site.
——————————————————————————-
There is no suit more style-forward than a softly constructed double breasted, and it’s much more versatile than you might think.
In a solid flannel, it’s the ultimate suit for just about any occasion.
As with all of my designs, I try to maximize versatility and usually “test drive” them by wearing it in different ways for a week straight. Here, six days out of the week in my grey flannel DB.
Monday Morning
If you’re worried about it being too much for the office, keep the rest of the outfit very classic – like a simple white/blue striped shirt, rep tie, and chocolate brown wingtips.
Bonus Tip: The most modern and flattering DB, in my opinion, has a slim fit, a low button stance, narrow overlap and minimal shoulder padding.
Bonus Tip II: A 6×2 (6 buttons, 2 fasten) is typically the easiest button closure to pull-off since it is the most common. I designed this one with gunmetal buttons so it can be worn with black or brown leathers, and patch pockets to give it a more casual feel. Also, a half lining let’s the jacket breathe, extending the wearability period of this suit. So you can sneak it in early Fall or late Spring (because I know you will want t0 ;)

Bonus Tip III: A DB is typically easier to pull-off in a heavier fabric cut for colder climates. It’s more fitting as the additional fabric is functional in keeping you warm.
Bonus Tip IV: Keep it sharp and buttoned up at the office, at least when standing.
TSB-for-Her Teaser Tip: “A flowy lightweight fabric (like this semi-sheer) is a more feminine approach to a basic button-up, especially with a cropped top (or fitted vest) over it to accentuate your shape. Also try nixing the tie and slipping a bold necklace under the collar for a fem take on “business casual”.
On Him: Flannel suit by MAB by Dan Trepanier (Updates Coming Soon). Shirt by Polo Ralph Lauren. Tie by Thom Browne. Socks by Smart Turnout. Shoes by Scarp di Bianco. Watch and band by Montblanc. Shades (in hand) by Persol.
On Her: Chenille top by Alexander Wang. Shoes by Sergio Zelcer. Jeans by Mavi. Sheer Colored Shirt by Lush. Vintage necklace.

It’s a blazer too. Don’t be afraid to split it up.
Bonus Tip: A turtleneck under a DB jacket is a sharp and smart business casual look – it can easily take you from a day at the office to a night on the town.
Bonus Tip II: Sometimes I don’t want an accessory to “pop” and distract, but I don’t like leaving the breast pocket empty. Try something tonal and textural – like a grey cashmere in a grey flannel.

Bonus Tip III: Fall/Winter is all about textures. The more variety the better (within tasteful reason, of course). Flannel suit, cashmere pocket square, waffle turtleneck, raw denim, marled socks, suede shoes – this look is nothing short of cozy.
TSB-for-Her Teaser Tip: “Be playful with your clothes. Here I used a Fendi skirt as a dress and loved the outcome. Creating an outfit around the same tones can make things easier on the eyes, just make sure you keep them contrasting enough so that your outfit doesn’t blend into one big blob.”
On Him: Flannel jacket by MAB by Dan Trepanier (Updates Coming Soon). Turtleneck by Club Monaco (sample). Jeans by JBrand. Socks by Land’s End. Monk straps by Scarpe di Bianco. Watch and band by Montblanc. Cashmere pocket square by Armstrong & Wilson. Vintage glasses.
On Her: Sweater skirt/dress by Fendi. Jacket by Peppe Puluso. Vinatage belt. Vintage Saks Fifth Avenue shoes. Watch by Bora.
Thursday Midday

A great suit comes with a great pair of trousers.
A lot of men forget about their suit trousers because they’re hidden in the closet under their jackets. Store and treat every piece as a separate and you’ll find that suddenly your wardrobe has expanded.
Bonus Tip II: Gingham isn’t just for the summer, just make sure the color is dark enough for cold weather.
TSB-for-Her Teaser Tip: Â ”When wearing a really bold piece (like this awesome vintage cropped jacket… stollen from my roommates closet) it’s usually best to keep the rest of the outfit simple and within the same color family as the piece you’re trying to show off. Here a simple white tee and black jeans set the jacket off perfectly.”
On Him: Flannel suit jacket by MAB by Dan Trepanier (Updates Coming Soon). Shirt and flannel tie by Michael Andrews Bespoke. Vintage Levis jacket. Alligator belt by Ralph Lauren Purple Label. Tassel loafers (as featured here) by Johnston and Murphy. Watch and alligator band by Montblanc. Vintage tie bar. Vintage “rose” ascot pin worn as a brooch in collar. Shades by Persol.
On Her: Jeans by Calvin Klein. Shoes by Dolce Vita (purchased at Project 159). Jacket Vintage Carrie Allen. Sunglasses by Marc Jacobs. White Tee by Hanes. Nail Polish by Essie in Fifth Avenue.
Saturday Afternoon

There is a thin line between a lightweight peacoat and a heavy DB jacket. I like to cross it.
Bonus Tip: Layer a hoody under a beefy blazer, it makes it easier to add/remove layers with the changing temperature and it saves you some time until you need to break out the real outerwear.
Bonus Tip II: As I mentioned in this post a fitted DB can be worn open, especially with a casual outfit.
TSB-for-Her Teaser Tip:Â “I’m in love with my cheetah print loafers but they can be hard to pull off. Sticking to neutral tones is a safe bet; you can always add more color with your accessories like I did with this mustard colored beanie.”
On Him: Flannel suit jacket by MAB by Dan Trepanier (Updates Coming Soon). Tank top by Hanes. Hoody by Cheap Monday. Jeans by Polo Ralph Lauren. Socks by Lands End. Cashmere pocket square by Armstrong & Wilson. Loafers by Scarpe di Bianco. Shades by Zanerobe.
On Her: Sweater by David Bitton. Sheer Cardigan by Helmut Lang. Pony hair cheetah print loafers by Kelsey Dagger. Vintage beanie.
Saturday Night

The advantage of grey – it transitions perfectly for nightlife.
Bonus Tip: It doesn’t get much better for a night out than black waxed jeans – like these awesome ones from Nudie Jeans (my current favorite pair).
Bonus Tip II: A lightweight scarf is a nice accent that you don’t have to remove at the door.
TSB-for-Her Teaser Tip:Â “Just because the numbers on your thermostat are dropping doesn’t mean you have to put your legs away until spring. Winter accessories like a floppy felt hat and high socks are a fun way to show a little leg while still staying warm.”
On Him: Flannel suit jacket by MAB by Dan Trepanier (Updates Coming Soon). Tee by Alexander Wang. Scarf I cut from some jersey t-shirt fabric. Waxed jeans by Nudie Jeans. Loafers by Bally. Cashmere pocket square by Armstrong & Wilson.
On Her: Dress Heritage by H&M. Hat from Housing Works Fashion for Action charity event. High Socks from Target. Shoes by Spring. Bag Vintage. Coat by T.O.V
 Sunday Morning

This flannel is so soft that the pants feel almost like sweats. Sometimes I roll out of bed and wear them to kick around the house in the morning (especially if they’re sitting on the floor from the night before).
TSB-for-Her Teaser Tip: “Yup. Sometimes the King is a woman ;)”
On Him: Flannel trousers by MAB by Dan Trepanier (Updates Coming Soon). Tank by Fruit of the Loom.
On Her: Tank top by Dela Vega. Leggings from Target. Socks by Brooks Brothers Black Fleece.
Thanks, as always, for reading. More exciting updates coming soon, please stay tuned.
Yours in style,

So excited about the women’s site, but definitely looking forward to the additions to this site. Congrats Dan! Also loving the cheetah print smoking shoes, have been eyeing a pair for myself :)

Wow she’s smoking. you guys make a great pair
Suggestion for the new women’s blog: The Style BlogHer. ;)
Thanks for this, SB! I’m actually traveling to two weddings cross country and planning on bringing my DB suit. Looking at the versatility of the suit is going to help me efficiently pack and not look too crazy with an overstuffed bag at the airport. Cheers to another great post!
100% your biggest fan for starting TSB for Her!! I’ve wanted to ask about that for the longest time!!!!! I can’t wait for more posts:) Any other blogs for women you would recommend?
Monk straps mare all this man needs!
Good selection of shoes.
What cut are the nudie jeans? Slim Jim?
One word, SWAG. You are a true inspiration!
It’s getting cold down here in Florida, I will definately try the Saturday Afternoon look.
Thanks Dan
I apologize if this topic has already been addressed, but in the first two looks, what seems like a black leather watch band is being worn with brown shoes. I can’t see what colour the belt is. Are there any guidelines on matching a watch band with other accessories?
The watch band is dark brown. I typically recommend keeping all your leathers in the same color family and trying not to wear black and brown together.
Thanks for reading,
Dan
Once again, Dan, great content. Always an inspiration.
Dan, you inspire me.
I know you arent able to visually see the impact you have on your readers but I asure you that what your doing is well apperciated.
Your blog allows us (the readers) to live vicariously thorough your experiences in the “arts”.
Thank You.
You sense of style is great, always looking good.
Congratulations and continued success of the site. I have enjoyed watching the evolution of your personal style as well as the transformation from mensstyleblog to what we have today. Much respect
Rob

Great looks as per usual, but what’s going on with the Sunday morning bread flipping? Is this how you make (french?) toast?

What’s the cardigan in the last fit?
Sorry, it’s by Benson. Just updated it, thanks.

This site just keeps getting better and better.
My wife has been looking for a “for her” equivalent to your blog for a while now. Super pumped!

Really like the story-telling aspect of this post. You know how to make menswear look fun.
great post dan and i look forward to the updates. the very last pic is absolute proof that a beautiful woman looks best “unmade up”. so now i have to envy not only your wardrobe? haha
You should really stop using/saying “TSB.com” since you don’t own that domain. Might confuse people and muddle your brand. Just a little tip from someone who works in social media/marketing.
great post as always. i love that i can come here and “borrow” and “edit”ideas for my own daily style. sidenote: last years thanksgiving i was wearing two size bigger and i thought i looked “ok”. since reading your blog specially your youtube episodes WHICH WE NEED OF MORE!! LOL. i trimed those two sizes and the compliments i got were 9/10 if not 10/10. from my barber all the way to the cashier at the supermarket. thanks D for doing you and inspiring me to do ME.
I will sign up for a shopping tour as soon as they are available. Like a dream come true for clueless ones like myself. (Working on it though!)
Furthermore, all the looks were great as usual.
A female counterpart to the styleblogger? Fashion crime fighting dynamic duo. Stylistic overload!
Beautiful girl
The styleblogger for her is a huge addition! I’m curious to know more about the meaning behind “vintage selects”. Congratulations TSB team!
Lastly, where’d you grab that cardigan. Blanket chic.
Looks so cozy..
This is the SB I know and love! Phenomenal post super cool and inspiring! keep up the good work!
This is a fantastic post.
What are your rules for mixing different pieces of suits? Lets say there is a dark grey wool suit with a light blue over check, can you wear the coat from that as a blazer like you do here in look 2?
